Clearwater Beach

Last June my daughter, granddaughter and grandson took our first solo vacation without my husband to meet with a dear friend who I haven't seen since we moved to South Florida over fifteen years ago.

It was the perfect setting and opportunity to have our little mini-reunion since she was visiting her elderly Mother who lives in Clearwater which was about a half hour from the resort area of Clearwater Beach.

My daughter was very excited about taking the trip to a new destination and especially seeing her friend who is the daughter of my dear friend. The girls met each other when they were only three years old and were very close until her parents moved to Farmingville, New York when she was a pre-teen.

My friend and I have kept in touch over the years but of course the girls were busy making new friends, so it was really great being able to catch up on all times. What made this reunion even more special was the fact that both our girls, had daughters almost exactly the same age as well so now we had a reunion of three generations.

We were pleasantly surprised to see how well the young girls got along and even though my grandson was the only boy in the mix, he did have a good time with a younger sibbling playing on the white sandy beach!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn which was on the beach and the accommodations were amazing!

They gave us a suite that had a complete kitchen with cookware, silverware and dishes so we were able to buy groceries and eat breakfast and lunch in our suite overlooking the ocean.

I highly recommend this hotel to those who are planning a trip to Clearwater Beach. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

My young grandson got sick while we were away and we had to take him to the nearest emergency room for treatment and when I needed change to do laundry, one of the staff members went across the street to get me change. He went above and beyond the call of duty but saw how frustrated I was trying to soothe a sick and tired toddler and it was only 6:00AM when I saw him and he volunteered to go across the street to get me the necessary change I needed to wash some soiled clothes.

Even though our mini vaction had a rough spot with my grandson having to be treated at the emergency room in the middle of the night, we still were able to enjoy the glorious ocean air and the beautiful beach.

Hopefully sometime in the future, we can plan another trip where everyone is healthy and can fully take advantage of everything that Clearwater Beach has to offer!

Iris,

I remember Clearwater Beach fondly. Our family lived just north of there for a while and we loved the area. So sorry your grandson had problems. NOT the way to end a good reunion.

Hi Grace,

My grandson was cutting four molars at the same time and we rushed him to the ER because he developed a rash and a very high fever. After alternating Tylenol and Advil the fever and rash disappeared and our little buddy was back to his old self enjoying the kiddie pool and the beach!

It is amazing how fast the little ones get back on track!

Thanks for writing.
