Extended Family

I was challenged once again as many of you were, to write an article about a subject that was Better than I expected.
I recently attended the funeral of my eldest brother and I hadn't been with that side of the family in almost six years when I attended the wedding of my nephew to his beautiful wife.
I was determined at that time to attend their wedding even though it involved traveling by plane since I knew that my brother was getting older and I wanted the opportunity to be with him and his wife under happier circumstances. I reflect on that decision now as I wise one since the next family gathering was to honor his memory and reflect on the many accomplishments he made during his lifetime to others and of course he devotion to his family. Since there was such a huge age difference between us, there were things I learned about him that I never knew.
I only was with this loving part of my family for two days, I arrived on Tuesday, went to the funeral on Wednesday and returned home on Thursday.
I mentioned it before and I will mention it again, although distance keeps us apart, the love we share is always in our hearts and when push came to shove, we all comforted each other in a time of grief and yet, allowed some happiness as well to celebrate family which is what my brother would have wanted us to do.
From that brief family encounter, I met my new great-niece and my future great-niece and reconnected with my nephews, their wives and children and saw my sister and sister-in-law who was more like a Mom to me.
I am grateful for having those two precious days to re-connect with my family.

All I can say is that you manage to get through it. Though the bitter circumstances came the sweet reality of loving family to comfort one another.
Thanks for taking the time to read my article and let's hope you won't have to experience what I recently went through.
