My hobby, Isn't It Obvious, Writing!

I think that since I had such a dysfunctional Mother and could not speak out! I started expressing myself on paper as early as age 11.
When my Dad passed away in 1964, we moved from Yonkers, New York to Flushing, Queens where we moved into a one bedroom apartment that had a huge walk in closet.
My mother was not diagnosed until she was in her late 80's with some bi-polar and severe anxiety issues and being around her was an emotional time bomb. Depending on her mood, she was always angry about everything and especially that she had to work because as she would put it, "Daddy didn't leave us with any money so now I have to work, and you have to make sure that the house is in order so when I come home from work you can take care of me!" She actually believed it and would repeatedly tell me that the only reason I was born was because my Dad wanted her to have someone to take care of her if he died. This was a second marriage for the both of them. She was 42 and now a widow at 55, and Dad was 52 when they married but passed away ten days after his 65th birthday from a massage stroke and heart attack!
I know that I was not the only child thrown into this situation but my mother literally had a break down when my Dad died and felt that if she had to work to support us, it was my responsibility to make sure that the house was clean, dinner was on the table, the laundry was done and that I also helped with finances by working after school and giving her money to pay for certain expenses. It was a lot of responsibility for a young child and when most children were making plans to meet their friends after school or join after school programs, I had to come home and work.
My only recreational time was in mixed chorus in school and of course coming home and writing in my walk in closet.
My love for writing was expressed in articles that I wrote in school, and later on in local papers that were published.
I even tried to have some of my articles published but was told that there was a fee for even considering submission so I wrote to express my feelings and kept a journal.
I was thrilled to find SearchWarp.com and that I could finally express myself and share my thoughts and feelings with other talented writers and get their feedback on my articles.
I honestly believe that my passion for writing got me through some of the rough moments in my life and I encourage my grandchildren to write and be creative as well.
