It's So Hot To Stand Strong and Follow your Heart!

In a world that judges you on how you act and conduct yourself in what society considers the normal way to act, I think it is so hot to see someone who is so secure in who they are that they do what they want and don't care what other's think!

How many times have you been told to be a leader and not a follower and yet most of us, seem to feel it is easier to follow the crowd than to lead it!

Now more than ever, we have to re-evaluate what is in our hearts and do some real soul searching to find ourselves and think about doing the right thing and making the right choices for us!

We have become a nation that has crossed the line and when did it come to pass that one person's opinion is the only opinion and position to take!

When you have a politician who will bring his or her own religious beliefs into their campaign and tell you that loving someone of the same sex is wrong, or that they don't have the same rights as a traditional family.  Many of these loving same sex families are the ones who will adopt a child with special needs or a child that a traditional family might over look because they are different or might require extra attention!

When the public will criticize a person who has had the courage to undergo years of psychological therapy because they feel that they want to change the sex that they were born with and then to add insult to injury once they have made that final decision and has gone through the transitional surgery be denied the right to live their lives for the first time being comfortable in their own skin!

I find it really disturbing that people will comment about Chaz Bono for wanting to simply dance on dancing with the stars because he has had guts to follow his heart and finally be comfortable with who he is!  Who gives anyone the right to deny him or anyone else to do what he feels is the right decision for him, especially if he is not hurting anyone! There are far more important topics to worry about than allowing him to dance and as he puts it, only dance and not lecture or try to "change" anyone.

We all need to be tolerant of others who don't fit into the traditional way of thinking and I would hope that those of us who choose to be traditional, respect those who have their own views of what is traditional for them.

Hatred comes in all colors, and being afraid of the unknown is no excuse for this type of behavior and in order for our world to survive, we all must learn patience, and most importantly tolerance of those who choose to be different.

I chose to follow the so called normal traditional path of marrying my best friend and loving this man for over thirty five years, we have raised two children together and have the pleasure of sharing their lives and the enjoying our four grandchildren.  I also take pride in teaching those grandchildren to respect those who are different than they are, being kind to those who are different whether it is due to a physical handicap, an emotional handicap, or that they chose to love someone of the same sex or someone who has undergone transgender surgery as well.

None of us have the right judge another human being and are only responsible for our own actions!

This is a powerful lesson that is an important one to follow and so....It is hot to stand strong and judge someone by their own merit, and deeds and not assume that if they follow the beat to a drum that is different than what you follow, that it is the wrong beat to follow!

Very well stated Iris, yes I don't believe we as mortals have the right to judge others for their beliefs or the way they choose to live their lives.

Thank you David!

Too bad so many people are more concerned about Chaz Bono dancing on Dancing with the Stars that they fail to see people in our own country living from their cars and everything else that we never thought would come to pass. Although we might not choose a certain lifestyle for ourselves, we have no right to force our views on others!

Thanks for taking the time to read my article and comment on it!
