All I want for Christmas!

Once again, we are challenged to write another article from a subject that is given to us and we all have many views and interpretations of how we feel about that particular subject.

This weeks challenge gave me pause to think!  We are all so busy with worrying about the holidays and buying gifts for friends and family that we forget about those who only have one wish!  That wish is that their loved ones who are bravely serving in the military are safe from harm and that their tour of duty will come to a happy ending with them being home with those who have patiently waited and prayed for their safe return.

How brave those families are who have to literally hold down the fort at home, trying to go about their daily lives like the rest of us and taking things day by day.  What we take for granted they only dream about and wish for.

This weekend was a time for my family and I to reflect on those who are patiently waiting for the return of those who out of duty, are serving this country proudly and putting their lives on the line so that we can enjoy our daily routines! We saw many of them who have unselfishly taken valuable time away from their families to think about those less fortunate and collect toys for children who without the generosity of strangers will not receive anything for the holidays.  You see these wonderful military personnel at street fairs, at the malls and at stores, dressed in uniforms and hoping that those who are busy buying for their own families will take the time to pick up an extra toy and put in the box that is supplied for those other children who might not receive anything because their parents can't afford a gift.

So my wish for this Christmas is that these brave soldiers in all forms of the military have a safe holiday, and that they will be reunited with their families healthy and ready to celebrate even if it means, celebrating the Christmas holidays around Easter!  That those who are home now and are hoping that others will get into the Christmas spirit will donate a small toys to children in this country who don't have them and wouldn't if we didn't think about them and of course peace on earth!

It doesn't matter what holiday you celebrate, we all have the same hopes and dreams for our families and our friends!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Holidays to everyone!
